Baby Projects

So I'm 37 weeks along now, and very puffy. I was put on bed rest last week because of how swollen I get so easily (I look and feel like the Pillsbury Dough Boy), and we want to prevent having to go into labor too early from Preeclampsia. Fun stuff, eh? So my projects for my baby have pretty come to an end, since I can't even just sit at the table to sew or anything, and there's only so much I can crochet. So here are a few of the things I've been working on the past couple of months for my baby boy:

This sits on the wall above Quinn's crib. I painted it out of wood blocks. I love it!

He has a bunch of blankets, since that's what my family seems to do best. But these are the ones I made. The teddy bear one with the silky blue border is my favorite. it's so soft!

His window needed a curtain, so I went and picked out this fabric. I wanted to wait a little bit to find out just how sportsy he's going to be before I make curtains that show he's growing up yet. But I promised Josh I would change the curtains as he gets older. It'll be fun, and it's not hard at all.

This is one of my favorite things to sing to him, even though he's not born yet. So I made this one day, and hung it above his crib on the other wall. Because he's my little sunshine!

BEFORE
My great-grandma (Grandma Ottley) basically claimed this chair whenever she was at my Grandma Chris' house. I grew up calling it Grandma Ottley's chair. She died when I was little at 105 years old. I was rocked in this chair, and it means a lot to me. But it's been through a lot, needed to be reupholstered, the wood fixed inside, and should be refinished, but we weren't allowed to because of the history it shows.

AFTER
Doesn't it look pretty? Josh and I had a lot of fun fixing it up this past week or two. The bottom no longer sinks in, the top of the back doesn't move back and forth (it was broken), the fabric was filthy and falling apart at the seams... But not no more!!! Now I can rock my baby Quinn to sleep at night. I'm excited. Both Josh and I like to just sit in it.

Happy 1st Anniversary!

Sunday was our anniversary, first ever, and the only one we'll ever have without kids. We kinda split up the weekend and celebrated it over all three days. Friday we went to a movie and out to eat (thanks mom for the money to allow us to do that!). Then Saturday, after sleeping in as long as we could, we spent the day together, and went to the Springville rodeo that night. It was so fun! Our favorite was by far the mutton busters. Watching those kids hold on for dear life while riding the sheep's back, falling off, going head first into the dirt, or spinning head over heals, almost getting trampled on by the sheep, the stand up, put their hands in the air all excited and everything... it was a blast! Quinn is SO doing that when he's old enough! Then Sunday, I was extremely sore and couldn't hardly change positions in bed, let alone get up to use the bathroom or go to church (I've decided bleachers and pregnancy don't mix!). Josh got up when our alarm went off, and made me breakfast in bed. It was so sweet! I love that man! He went to church, had fun in nursery (since I can't go anymore, doctor's orders), and came home to me making a mess in the kitchen. We sorta ate our top layer of cake on our 1 month anniversary, so I decided to try and remake it. I had made a spice cake the day before (by scratch and everything, I was rather proud of me), and was working on making fondant as Josh walked in the door. I got it done, we rested that afternoon, and I made a yummy dinner to go along with our cake (homemade chicken cordon bleu).

As a side note, Josh has been continuing to help people with yard work. We went over to Aliesha and Jeff's house and helped them start pruning their apple trees. It was really fun, at least when the kids came out to "help". They'd pick up the sticks and leaves that had been cut off by Josh, and would put them in "piles" (or throw them all over the yard and scatter them worse). Then they wanted to play with us (go figure). They sword-faught, ran and jumped on us, played baseball, etc. Here are a couple pictures of our little helpers.
