Danny's Birthday

Today is my baby brother, Dannys birthday. He is turning the ripe ol age of 8 years old! He is getting so big! We spent yesterday with my family to celebrate it with him. I made him a space cake (he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up), chocolate of course. I was rather proud of how good it looked and turned out (nice and moist). He got the first book of The Black Cauldron series, his own set of scriptures, and a kids version of the game Would You Rather. After I sat down with him and taught him a few things about his scriptures (like how to look up the books and how to mark them - NOT with crayon) we ate spaghetti and cake and then played his game. It was a lot of fun! Here are some pictures of the day:
We have a tradition in our family of hiding the presents and making the birthday person search for them before they can open them (helps it last longer). Laurie refused to sit still - she had to help Danny.

Me getting spit up on majorly. I had gone in for a kiss from my baby, and "Urp!" all over my face, down my shirt....

Quinn got really happy at one point and just kept laughing! It was apparently a first for Josh, though he's done this for me before too.

Eating a twinkie

Josh got to choose to have make-up put on him, or wear someone elses socks right off their feet. You can see which he chose (I sure hope our daughters are cuter!)

Fall Fun

This is a picture of how much Quinn LOVES his puppies (the mobile). My little puppy, enjoying his puppies... such a cutie!

I LOVE this time of year! It's my favorite. The leaves, the weather, the colors, the holidays... *sigh* I've been doing a lot, and we've been wanting to get out more as a family now that Quinn is getting older and it's not as hot anymore. So here are some pictures to give you an update on what we've been up to.

For those who didn't hear, we got a puppy, for a day. She was a black lab/ border collie mix - the perfect kind for me, and for Quinn to grow up with, etc. But after being alone with her for a night with just me and Quinn that first night made me realize I'm just not quite ready for two babies (and I used to think I wanted twins...). She liked my smell (the breastmilk) and bonded to me really fast, and I to her, but it just isn't time yet. So we gave her to a nice family in Ogden where she is loved already. I do miss her.

We had some spare time the other before playing stake volleyball, so we grabbed our leftover bread and went to feed the ducks. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures from that.

And yesterday we finally got to go up into the canyon and have a picnic (we've been planning it for weeks, but between family, and work, and rain, we hadn't gotten around to it). Man we miss camping!! We're SO going next year! We found the perfect little spot to pull over for our picnic up Hobble Creek Canyon here in Springville. Hardly any cars drove by, the scenery was beautiful, it was quiet, and it was just a really nice family outing. Quinn was a bit fussy for part of it because he didn't get a good nap yesterday, but we still had a blast!

Josh trying to build the fire to roast the hotdogs (I ended up having to help him). He had a blast burning things, such a boyscout!

Just for fun

We went over to Brittany and Gjanden's last night for FHE. We put Quinn in their swing for a bit, but it's broken so we had to push it ourselves. Gideon seemed to want to help his cousin out, so he pushed Quinn for us for a little while. It was cute. Especially when Gideon would try and get closer, and he'd fall over when the swing would come back. Sorry for bad quality on the videos... We only have our phones that will take video since we lost Josh's camera.
