Boppy!!

This is a video of Quinn chowing down for the first time on his new teething ring. So nice it's not my knuckle for once! It can hurt!

These are pictures of him on his new boppy pillow Papa C and Grandma Cis got him. He loves to sit up, and look around, so this is perfect for him! Thank you so much!!

I call this his, "Hmm... that's very interesting. Can you tell me more?" pose

Here's his tummy time on the boppy. I just thought it was cute!

"Hi mom! What's that bright light you keep flashing at me?"

Busy as Bees Making... Applesauce...

Here are some recent pictures of my baby boy!

We had a VERY busy, exhausting week last week! Josh would stay at the woodshop after work each night for a couple hours to build us an entertainment center out of the scraps there. I had Quinn all to myself all week, and by the time Josh would get home each night, it was Quinn's bedtime... I felt like a single mom, and boy was I worn out! Josh was, too. He ended up getting sick he was so exhausted.

I want to point out how amazing my husband is! He designed this, made it out of solid maple, lacquered and glazed it, and did everything himself. He designed a bookcase on the one side because we needed another one. I think it looks amazing! And I've already decorated it for autumn, filled it in with my books and everything. The bottom shelf that is empty is for our photo albums and scrapbooks I need to pull out still (and put things in).

These are the handles we picked out. I think they work really really well with the wood finish. And the angle was a special touch of Josh's to make it unique.

And Josh is especially proud of the "v-groove" paneling. They aren't just boards stapled onto the side. They have a little dip between each board, adding depth to the design.

And he did it to the inside as well. He worked really hard on this for me! I love that man so much!

Then, Wednesday Quinn and I went to my parents' house to get help making and canning 15 quarts of applesauce. I had decided to do this when my Sister-in-law inherited 5 apple trees this year. I figured Quinn will be starting on solid foods in a couple months, and this would be the perfect food for him. I love applesauce, anyway. Also, we needed to start our food storage, since we haven't been able to do anything about it since we've been married. And then Saturday, I was going to can the peaches we had picked at my mother-in-law's house, but they were already too ripe. So I decided to make jam. However, I was all by my lonesome this time, and Quinn has been such a momma's boy and not allowing me to put him down (though I try all the time!), that I only got 1 quart of peach jam, 1 quart of apple/peach, 1 pint of apple jelly, and 1 quart of apple butter done. I decided I'm done for the year. No mas!

Happy Baby

So here is that video of Quinn laughing I promised to try and get. This is his new joy - his mobile I just put up in his crib. It has puppies going around to a lullaby. The first time I put him in with it and turned it on, he was on his tummy and tried to turn over to see what the noise was. I had to help him. But then he laid there fascinated, loving it, laughing, smiling... it was cute!

Baby Blessing

Five Generation Picture!

Well, my little Quinn is blessed! Well, I'm sure he's always been blessed, and he's always been a blessing to us. But he was given a name and a blessing in church yesterday. Josh seemed to hardly think about it, until a few days ago, then he started asking questions to get it right, and actually got nervous Sunday morning. It was kinda cute. He did a really good job, it was a really neat experience to hear Quinn's first blessing.

But man, were we tested yesterday! I had set the alarm for a half hour earlier than on a normal Sunday, just to be safe. I figured with my mom coming early, she could help with Quinn, making us that much safer to being ready on time. However, Quinn woke up and decided to not go back to sleep, thus making it difficult for Josh and I to get ready at the same time. Then my grandma came and stole Josh just as I was trying to get into the shower, because they had locked themselves out of their house, so that set us back more. Then when Josh went to iron his pants, he realized they had somehow ripped in the crotch, and we don't know when or how that happened. And they are the only pants that fit him. So I had to sew that up by hand as fast as I could. Then my family was late getting here, so I had to get Quinn ready. And then we walked in as they were starting sacrament.... I remembered after it was all over that I had always told my investigators that when they were trying to go to church for the first time, or when they were getting baptized, or going through the temple, or anything like that, the Lord would test them, Satan would try and stop them, their days would be hectic, they would get into fights, etc. I forgot that could happen to me, too. It was worth it, though. We made it through, and it was a great day.

Also, here are some pictures of Quinn helping Josh get the yard ready.

Smiley :)

Quinn loves his changing table! It's the one place I can almost guarantee that you can see him smile. He will be crying and fussy, but as soon as I lay him on it, he's talking to me, looking at his curtains just above him, smiling... it's so cute! So I put the camera next to the changing table so that the next time we were there, I could snap a ton of shots and hopefully catch one of him smiling. Here's what I got. Hopefully next time I can get a video of it.

Also, this last Sunday, we had a dutchoven cookout in Wallsburg with Jeff's family (Josh's brother-in-law). It was a lot of fun. They got to shoot bows and arrows, we almost filled up on the appetizers waiting for the food, and dessert was amazing! I like that family, they have the largest collection of guns I've seen, told us about the 50 chickens they had just killed that week, the have quakies in their yard, etc, etc. Minus Quinn having a hard time from being so tired, it was a blast!
