Busy Boy

I should apologize for all of my random posts. There's just so much happening, and my little boy is just so cute! He seriously never stops... He's always doing SOMETHING... I'm scared for when he starts running (not walking, because he'll never just walk. It'll be a full-out run)

Doing laundry with Mommy

Taking pictures

Smiling at Mommy

Playing on the floor

Playing in his crib

Trying to get Mommy

This is my handsome cowboy in his new fave hat

And what does a cowboy like to do all day? Play World of Warcraft :P

Valentine's Day

FIRST, SOME FUN QUINN MOMENTS YOU'VE MISSED

My little boy loves his food, especially when we give it to him to eat, like a piece of bread or graham cracker. One day, after eating some bread while we ate our sandwiches, we went in on the computer, not realizing he still had a firm hold on a snack he apparently was saving for later:

This is a video of Quinn pulling the blanket off of himself while we played peek a boo on our bed. He's such a smart little stinker!

And this is him after eating a Dove Chocolate. I got some to decorate my brother Jan's birthday cake, and gave one, still wrapped, to Quinn to play with. He found out how to melt it and suck on it in order to get yummy goodness out of it.

AND NOW FOR VALENTIN'S DAY

Josh is such a sweetheart! He got onto my ebay account a few weeks ago and bought me a present for Valentine's Day. However, it hasn't arrived yet. So he had to show my a picture of it instead. But he and Quinn did go out and get me some flowers and a teddy bear and a card. And this is how they surprised me with them. I turned around, and...awww!

And here is what we got each other:

Precious!
We decided to stay in this year. So I made a yummy dinner (homemade chicken broccoli alfredo), with the bubbly of course, and then watched a movie while cuddling on the couch, all three of us. You can see the amazingly beautiful flowers my boys got me on the table there, and the way I decorated for our nice little dinner.

I got dressed up, too, and made Josh take a fun picture of me

Then on Sunday itself (we did everything else on Saturday), we went to my parents' house to celebrate Jan's 18th birthday. I made him a cake, but forgot to take a picture of it. It was so good!!! It was a black forest cake (Jan said he wanted chocolate, chocolate... but likes cherries, too. So I put them together), and decorated it the the dove chocolate on top, and mini chocolate chips. You'll just have to trust me that it looked good, and tasted even better!

While at my parents' house, my sister Brekke decided to have Quinn play the piano with her. He's a natural! He kept looking up at the sheet music, and singing as he played. It was so fun to watch! I love my little boy

Meow! Rawr!

Quinn likes playing with my hair

Last Sunday we went to our friends, Eric and Amanda's house. It was a lot of fun! We are so happy they finally moved from Logan so we can see them more often. While the Superbowl was playing in the background, and Josh and Eric were playing World of Warcraft, Amanda and I were catching up and introducing Quinn to their kitties. Josh had tried unsuccessfully when we first got there (his method was sitting Quinn down on the floor with the cats, alone, having never really been around them before. Needless to say, he was a bit scared of them, and Mommy had to save him). But after a while, Quinn got used to these little furry creatures running around the place, so I decided to give it another shot. I sat on the floor to play with him. I gave him his rattle, and the kitties heard it and then came over to investigate. The black one had the most fun with Quinn, trying to sniff him, eat his binky as it dangled from his shirt, laid next to him, and all sorts of fun stuff. The other cats just watched from a distance, interested in this other small creature, but not quite brave enough to do anything about it. Here are some fun pictures we took of the event:

Artsy Fartsy

This is Vanna Quinn, modeling both mine and Josh's newest pride and joy: the painting and frame behind Quinn. A couple months back when we rearranged Quinn's room/office, we ended up with a huge blank wall that needed...something. So we got a gross painting from DI, and I painted over it. We just wanted something simple, warm, and not too hard for me to do (I'm no Van Gough, by any stretch of the imagination). And since we both enjoy nature, I decided to paint different leaves... whatev. But then we didn't have a frame for it, and Josh wanted to make one, so it never got hung up. Then we rearranged Quinn's room... again, and the big blank wall is only a medium blank wall. The other day, I was sorta bored, so I found a way to hang up the painting without a frame. It fell the next day. Then Josh got called in to work at the woodshop for a day, so he stole the painting, and made a frame - without my knowledge. He came home 3 hours late, his phone had died, and I didn't know what was going on. I was rather nervous, and upset, hoping he hadn't gotten into an accident, and mad he never called to tell me he was going to be late. But then when he brought home this amazing frame he made from scratch... well, I couldn't be too mad at him... jerk... lol. But now, it looks too good to hide in our office. So I get to rearrange the pictures in the living room to put it in there :)

My painting before the frame, up on the wall:

The finished product my sweetheart brought home last night:

A close-up of the frame: It's made out of cherry and alder (which is painted black). It totally goes with my deco in the living room! I can't help but put in there now! (I have a wood and black theme going on):

The back. He designed it so that the back piece screws into the frame, leaving the painting untouched, but solidly in there.

Close up of the back:

For those of you who aren't sure, I'm going to tell you which leaf is what (I didn't make them up, I promise!)

Quack, Quack, Quack!

This is so funny! Quinn, as many of you know, loves watching Baby Einstein videos. One of his faves is "Neighborhood Animals." And I guess it's because of this video that he gets a kick out of every time Josh or I make a duck noise. Here is a video of just how much Quinn loves that quacking duck noise (he is watching a part of the baby einstein movie). The second video is what Quinn saw. It is his favorite part :) (sorry the sound is bad)

Reminiscing...*sigh*

Upon taking college classes again after a year break, it's interesting the differences that marriage and a kid has brought upon me that I didn't really notice until now. For instance, I used to come home from classes and playing with people during the day, to a room all by myself. I'd sit at the computer, turn on my calming music (usually Enya or Lord of the Rings Soundtracks), grab a snack and bring it to my room, put up my feet, and either work on homework and play on the computer, or watch a movie on my computer. Oh, how I miss those relaxing days! Now, I try to do my homework at the computer, usually with a little squirmy boy sitting on my lap, trying to play with the keyboard as well. I have to stop often to feed or change him, clean spit-up, answer Josh's questions, make dinner for the family, maybe straighten up one of the rooms in the house a little, go back to trying to do homework, etc, etc. Today while Quinn was taking a nap, Josh was busy in the other room and doing the laundry, so I took the opportunity to sit on my bed with the laptop, got my ipod playing my calming music (which has grown to include Celtic Women, Norah Jones, and Michael Buble, as well as my old Enya and LOTR stuff), and did homework for an hour or so. It was awesome! I never realized how much I missed it! Don't get me wrong, I love my husband and baby boy to death, but I don't get much "me" time without worrying about something else, and it was a nice break.
